At Lufthansa City Center, sustainability is more than a commitment — it’s a guiding principle in both life and business. That’s why it is crucial for us to set a strong example by hosting the General Assembly 2025 in the most climate-friendly way possible.
We have chosen the Westin Dragonara Resort, a Green Key, Blue Flag, and eco-certified hotel that already operates with its own rooftop solar systems.
In preparing this event, we have worked on every detail to minimize emissions:
Printed materials and non-digital giveaways have been reduced to a minimum.
Digital signages will replace posters, and an event app will provide agendas, participant and sponsor information, brochures, and catalogues for download.
Sponsors and partners are asked to follow the same approach by limiting printed materials and giveaways, especially at booths and the marketplace.
The stage will use an energy-efficient LED wall instead of power-heavy projections.
Wherever materials are required, sustainable alternatives are used.
Of course, some emissions remain unavoidable — from travel, catering, accommodation, and on-site activities. These will be fully offset this year through climate protection projects run by our trusted partner Atmosfair.
We are proud to host the General Assembly 2025 at the Westin Dragonara Resort, a venue that fully meets our high sustainability standards.
Green Key Certified
The Green Key certification is a leading international standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operations within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label confirms that the Westin Dragonara Resort adheres to the strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
Blue Flag Certified
The Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognized voluntary eco-labels, awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating operators. To qualify, the resort must meet and maintain rigorous environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility standards.
Eco-Certified
As an Eco-Certified Hotel, the Westin Dragonara is recognized by the Malta Tourism Authority for its tangible commitment to the environment. Certification is granted only to hotels that comply with a comprehensive set of sustainability criteria.
Photovoltaic Energy
On its rooftop, the Westin Dragonara operates a photovoltaic installation with 1,000 solar panels (365Wp each) and eight inverters, delivering a total capacity of 336 kW. Covering 3,100 square metres, the system generates around 15% of the hotel’s annual electricity consumption.
